How to Pass the Tableau Desktop 8 Qualified Associate Exam

Recently I took the Tableau Desktop 8 Qualified Associate Exam and passed it. Having taken other certification exams before, I knew that study guides issued by exam providers don’t always provide the best methods of preparation. As usual, I was unsure about the best approach to study for this exam, and ended up exhausting the resources I had available to me. All of the materials I studied were free and were sufficient resources to help me pass the exam. Below is a compilation of study materials on how you can go from not knowing what Tableau Desktop is to becoming a Tableau Desktop Qualified Associate with no training costs involved.

  1. Hi Salman, I'm interested in doing exactly what you did. I have three certifications (Excel 2010, Excel 2013 and PowerPoint 2013), but no Tableau. How long do you think this would take me?

  2. Hi Anon,

It depends on how quickly you can get ramped up on the concepts and terminology used by Tableau. I had a SQL background so that helped me understand a lot of behind the scenes work that was occurring to render my views. I would suggest starting with all of the on-demand training videos and the live online trainings. Those should get you familiar with how people are using Tableau. Next, look into doing exercises on your own rather than following along with others. You can reference some of the tutorials on my page for this. But I would suggest creating your own exercises as well. You can do this by finding views that you think are interesting, and trying to recreate them. Tableau Public is a great way to go about this, because you can download the data sets that were used to build the views that are posted. Lastly, go through the Official Exam Prep Guide and make sure you are able to perform all the tasks listed in there. For someone completely new, becoming prepared could take between two months at minimum to four or even five months, depending on how much time you spend on it. Best of luck studying and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!

  3. I have had a few projects under my belt using Tableau and feel pretty comfortable. I have watched all the on-demand training videos and gone through the 2 day trainer led course ( 4 hours each day online). I am curious to how the layout of the exam is?

  8. Renting a car is usually a less-than-exciting experience when traveling. Getting the keys to a bland four door is nothing to write home about. What many do not realize is that any vacation or business trip can be an adventure with a car hire. Luxury Car Rental Coimbatore

No matter the destination, having the keys to an exotic car is a thrill. Even the gas station can be fun when fellow customers notice the beauty at the pump. A car that totals more than many people's mortgage is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. Just the sound of the engine will catch the attention of admirers as you fly by.
